- RedSafe DNA Stain (20,000 X)
RedSafe Nucleic Acid Staining Solution is a new and safe alternative to the traditional ethidium bromide(EtBr) stain for detecting DNA and RNA in agarose gels. RedSafe is just as sensitive as EtBr and the staining protocol is also very similar, however, compared to EtBr, which is known as a strong mutagen, RedSafe causes much fewer mutations in the Ames test. Most importantly, it is not considered hazardous waste, can be disposed of according to standard laboratories procedures, and is stable for years
Compatible with EtBr methodology
RedSafe emits green fluorescence when bound to DNA or RNA. It has two fluorescence excitation maxima when bound to nucleic acid it has one visible excitation at 514 nm. The fluorescence emission of RedSafe bound to DNA is centered at 537 nm. RedSafe is non-carcinogenic but may cause skin and eye irritations. Please wear gloves when working with the product. To ensure good sensitivy make sure the gels are not thicker than 0.5cm. RedSafe is regarded as Non-Toxic however we do recommend that you follow the rules and regulations of your local water boardsRedsafe should be of interest to all customers who care about maintaining the safest possible work environment in their laboratory
Packsize
1ml Bottle (20,000X)
Storage
6 Months at room temperature
Safety comes first
RedSafe causes many fewer mutations in the Ames test. When compared with spontaneous mutations caused by water in the Ames test, RedSafe rate was only slightly beyond the standard deviation range. In addition (and in contrast to EtBr), RedSafe scores negative in the mouse bone marrow micronucleus test and in the chromosome aberration test. Thus RedSafe can be considered non-carcinogenic. Most importantly, RedSafe is not considered hazardous waste, and can be disposed of according to standard laboratory procedures.

As expected Review by Kuldeep
Rating I've used this product in our labs in the states. so I wasn't expecting to see any problems. It's a safe alternative and it does exactly what it says. Price is a little dearer here in the UK but then what isn't more expensive here. don't start me on the petrol prices :) (Posted on 12/08/2018)

Lab Safety Review Review by Daniel
Rating We have recently gone through a lab safety review and evaluated a number of alternatives. Based on the cost analysis, performance of the product and response time of the supplier in providing the product. We went with Chembio and Redsafe. We have an agreement where Redsafe is on a 24 hour order system with us. So we can have the product reach us within 48 hours. I can't complain! (Posted on 09/06/2018)

Nice Gels Review by Judy
Rating I wasn't sure about trying a different product. I've always used Etbr and have had excellent results. however with changing needs our lab was asked to switch to safer alternatives. I run a few gels now and touch wood I have not had any problems. I have not tested it for as long as I would so like so at this stage I am only willing to give 4 stars. (Posted on 11/05/2018)

Good Alternative Review by Alexa
Rating My lab found Redsafe to be a good alternative to Ethidium Bromide. The product was easy to use, however its more expensive than EtBr. So I am only going to give it 4 Stars. (Posted on 27/10/2017)

Impressive Review by Angus
Rating I received a 50% off on my first order and I have not been disappointed. The results were as good as EtBr Staining without the safety issues. Highly recommend (Posted on 31/03/2017)
