The FavorPrep™ Woody Plant Total RNA Purification Mini Kits for are designed for the purification of total RNA from plant tissues, plant cells and filamentous fungi, using the modified salt precipitation procedure and RNAse inhibitors without. Plant RNA is quickly and efficiently isolated without the use of hazardous solvents such as phenol. The resulting products are available for downstream applications including RT-PCR, Northern blotting, primer extension and cDNA library construction.

Procedure The sample is broken down by grinding in liquid nitrogen and passed through the filter column to remove cell debris. The resultant lysate is applied to the spin column. The RNA in the lysate binds to glass fiber matrix in the spin column. The optional DNase treatments can remove DNA residues and the contaminants are washed with an ethanol contained wash buffer. Finally, the purified total RNA is eluted by RNase-free water.
